The week before Thanksgiving, a group of Vertica employees headed to the East End House in Cambridge, MA to help with food donations. Since 1875, the East End House has offered innovative programs to the community. Their programs support families and individuals through after-school activities, daycare, as well as comprehensive services including a food pantry and senior programming.

Sarah Lemaire, the technical community content manager, organized the project and was accompanied by thirteen members of the Vertica team. The team helped move over 25,000 pounds of food that will be part of Thanksgiving food bags for needy families in Cambridge and the surrounding areas. Volunteers hauled bags of potatoes, onions, and carrots, and carried boxes of fresh fruits and vegetables as part of the service project.

Volunteering with East End House is becoming an annual part of the fall season for Vertica employees. This is the third year volunteers have helped with the Thanksgiving project. The team had a wonderful time helping out again this year. If you’?re interested in learning more, please visit the East End House site.
